Removable batteries let you charge in your flat and swap at a station. Fixed packs are usually larger, better protected and cheaper. Here is how to pick for how you actually live.

This is a question about your parking, not your scooter
The fixed-versus-removable decision gets discussed as a technical one. It is almost entirely a question of where you live and where you park.
If you have a power point next to where the scooter sleeps, fixed is usually the better buy. If you park on the street, in a shared basement with no socket, or three floors below your flat, removable solves a problem that nothing else solves.
The case for removable

- •Typically cheaper for the same energy, because the packaging is simpler
What people underestimate about removable packs
The weight is real. A removable scooter pack is not a laptop battery. Carrying it up three floors daily is a commitment worth testing in the showroom before you buy, not after.
The connector is the weak point. A contact that is mated and unmated twice a day for three years, often with dusty or damp hands, is doing real work. Keep it clean and dry, and stop using it if it becomes loose or discoloured.
Charging indoors needs care. Charge in a ventilated room, away from anything flammable, and never in the only exit route from a room. This applies with more force indoors than it does in a parking area.
On battery swapping
Swap networks are attractive when they exist along the route you actually ride. Before treating swapping as the reason to buy a vehicle, check where the stations are on your commute, not just how many exist in your city, and confirm the vehicle is compatible with that specific network — packs are not interchangeable across operators.

- •Can you run a cable to where the scooter parks? → Fixed is probably the better buy
- •Can you not, and can you comfortably carry ten to fifteen kilos to where you live? → Removable
- •Can you neither park near a socket nor carry a pack? → Look for a swap network on your route before choosing the vehicle
